Commissions are a traditional way of creating art of someone, something or somewhere that is both meaningful, important and bespoke for a special person. Commissions are priceless and timeless. Commissions hold such an importance to me as they helped guide me to where I am now. I’ll never forget my first Commissions. One in particular that will always live with me, the reason I decided to become an artist. When I was 16 I had been commissioned by an old Lady that had recently lost her Husband. Once I finished the Painting and got it to her. After, I was told that she keeps it in her Husband’s chair as when she looks at the Painting she feels his eyes are looking at her. As she said I had done his eyes perfect. Since then I knew it wasn’t just a gift I’ve been given with art. It’s also my duty to give this gift to others.
Commissions last lifetimes and historically are what most artists made a living on. Michelangelo’ Sistine chapel was a commission by Pope Julius II. Throughout history most of the great art that we are familiar with has been commissions. Commissions are an amazing way to document one’s feelings, faith and a way to tell someone you love them for a lifetime. There is no commission that is not worthy so please, get in touch.
Love,
W
