A striking portrait of defiance and identity, this painting captures a masked Woman staring directly at the viewer—eyes unwavering, unafraid. The figure wears a fitted Corteiz tee, emblazoned with the brand’s signature insignia, standing against a backdrop of weathered steel blues and rusted textures. The contrast between the soft folds of the headwrap and the hard, urban decay hints at Corteiz’s duality: raw street energy wrapped in style and purpose.
Founded in West London in 2017 by a British-Nigerian creative, Corteiz has grown from an underground streetwear movement into a global symbol of rebellion, authenticity, and unity under its mantra: Rules the World. Known for elusive drops, guerrilla marketing, and an unshakable community, Corteiz speaks directly to those who see themselves as more than consumers—they’re part of a code.
When this painting was first revealed, Corteiz fans embraced it instantly, hailing it as a perfect embodiment of the brand’s spirit. Even the founder himself reached out, personally praising the work—cementing its place as not just a tribute, but an extension of the Corteiz story.
BEHIND THE BRUSH
“This Painting I’d say has definitely been one of my most well received. Especially for people in my generation that had caught on to the growing Corteiz movement at the time . The brand was loud and creative. Definitely a brand that has inspired me alongside many. Writing this almost 2 years after the painting was released and now I’m about to drop my first T Shirts and Hoodies with my Original Artwork on it. 2 years ago I don’t know what I’d have said if someone told me I’d done that. Right now I’m nowhere near satisfied with where I’m at. But now I look back at the timeline in which I’ve done it and how far I’ve come. I’m proud. Be kind to yourself and do everything you want to do with passion and try to do the things you don’t want to do with the same. You’re still young and we’re always learning. My Grandad always said, “If I had a pound for every mistake I’ve made I’d be a millionaire.”
