I created the design for this piece with paper and pencil shortly after I had seen Potter for the first time performing live in Manchester. I had seen a handful of artists doing pieces for him from Oil paint to digital art and I thought he’s my favourite rapper. He’s real, he’s authentic, he’s vulnerable but most importantly he always inspired me. I’d seen enough paintings depicting the man he is today however I wanted to pay homage to the character development of Potter. His come up. From the streets of Barking. A raw and humble success story filled with countless setbacks and life lasting lessons. Inspiring all and especially those trapped in the system that you can do more with less than.
“I’ve done so much reflecting
I forgot my reflection
I know loving from a distance
Tryna keep a connection
When you’re lost can’t nobody
Really give you direction
You’ve gotta find your own way
Due care and attention…”
